A new downtown condo project gave London area housing starts a big boost last month.
 

The Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp. (CMHC) said there were 534 housing starts in London-St. Thomas in May, compared to 443 in same month in 2015. The big factor in the numbers was Tricar Group’s Azure condominium project at Talbot and Dufferin Streets, which will be the city’s tallest residential highrise.

The seasonally adjusted annual rate for May came in at 188,570 units for the month, down from 191,388 in April.

But Coun. Frank Etherington doesn't want Kitchener to imitate the kind of development that has cropped up in neighbouring Waterloo, where highrises densely crowd along a stretch of King Street between University Avenue and Columbia Street.

CAMBRIDGE — Concerned residents clash with eager developers.

 

It's a typical story in Cambridge as proposals for townhouse and condo developments frequently pop up in council chambers. So on Tuesday, Cambridge councillors voted to strike a committee made up of residents and a developer who has plans for townhouses in Hespeler to help find a middle ground on the project.

Our staff here at Orchard Design and Meritech have gotten together to create a table full of delicious treats (such as the wonderful treat pictured below) for a bake sale, all in support of a great cause.

All proceeds from the sale will support the Rotary Classic SuperHero Run for KidsAbility; an annual event that helps KidsAbility provide therapy and support services to children in need.

Together with Centric Engineering, we’ve been busy working on a new and unique project; Greenbrier Place. This 6 storey building of one and two bedroom condo-style apartment rentals is located in Cambridge, and possibly one of the first 6 storey wood framed buildings to be completed in Ontario.
